The Villa Park Library will be heating up with a special storytime — with representatives from the Orange County Fire Authority at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
They will read fire-safety-related stories to children and families as well as to provide information about fire safety, said Children’s Librarian Jacqueline Overlid.
“It is a fabulous way for children to learn more about firefighters and to meet them in person, which could help in emergency situations,” she said. “It is good to know that there are friendly smiles under all that gear and driving that big loud truck. …
“Families usually come to this type of event because firefighters are so neat,” Overlid said.
If there are no emergencies keeping the firefighters busy, a fire engine will make a special appearance at the library as well.
For further information, contact the library at 714-998-0861.
Hours are Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The library is closed Fridays and Sundays. The library is in the shopping center at 17865 Santiago Blvd.
